Pulmonary function evaluation in air and space flight.

چکیده
I D E A L pulmonary function monitoring for air and space flight is one which will permit constant monitoring with a minimum of equipment on the pilot or astronaut. Also desirable is a technique which places small requirements on the pilot or astronaut. Within these limitations it would be desirable, of course, to have as broad a readout as possible. Because of the difficulty of administering individual tests, and because of the limited readout from them, the usual pulmonary function tests are not adequate for inflight evaluation of pulmonary function. What is required, then, is a new concept in pulmonary function evaluation which is adaptable to continuous inflight monitoring. The velocity-volume (V'-V) loop gives proinise of being such a test. Since the V'-V loop technique is a new concept in pulmonary function monitoring, it will be necessary to describe first the nature of the test and second, its adaptation to inflight monitoring will be presented.

Commercial air travel and in-flight pulmonary hypertension.
BACKGROUND It has recently been shown that commercial air travel triggers hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and modestly increases pulmonary artery pressure in healthy passengers. There is large interindividual variation in hypoxic pulmonary vasoreactivity, and some passengers may be at risk of developing flight-induced pulmonary hypertension, with potentially dangerous consequences. This stud...
متن کاملEvaluation of Visual-Spatial Cognitive Function and Attention in Pilots of Air Force of Islamic Republic of Iran
Introduction: The pilot has a continuous flow of various activities that require navigation, attention, and navigation working memory. Fighter pilots are more vulnerable to cognitive impairment due to positive gravitational acceleration. This point indicates the importance of their cognitive assessments. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate visual-spatial cognitive function and attention in ...
متن کاملMidcourse Trajectory Shaping for Air and Ballistic Defence Guidance Using Bezier Curves
A near-optimal midcourse trajectory shaping guidance algorithm is proposed for both air and ballistic target engagement mission attributes for generic long range interceptor missile. This guidance methodology is based on the maximum final velocity as the objective function and maximum permissible flight altitude as the in-flight state constraint as well as the head-on orientation as the termina...
متن کاملPulmonary artery pressure increases during commercial air travel in healthy passengers.
BACKGROUND It is not known whether the mild hypoxia experienced by passengers during commercial air travel triggers hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and increases pulmonary artery pressure in flight. Insidious pulmonary hypertensive responses could endanger susceptible passengers who have cardiopulmonary disease or increased hypoxic pulmonary vascular sensitivity. Understanding these effects ...
متن کاملSpirometric evaluation of pulmonary function in Yazd’s dental laboratory workers in 1398
abstract Introduction: Spirometry is a common device screening in occupational pulmonary disease. Dental laboratory workers usually are exposed to vapor, toxic gases, dust, metallic alloys, acrylics, and stones. Aim of This study was a Spirometric evaluation of the pulmonary function of Yazd’s dental laboratory workers. Method and materials: in this cross-sectional study 37 Yazd’dental tech...
